ITC grants DTT licences to the BBC and Crown Castle
16th August 2002
The Independent Television Commission (ITC) has today (Friday, August 16) granted the digital terrestrial television (DTT) Multiplex Service Licence B to the BBC and Multiplex Service Licences C and D to Crown Castle.
The Multiplex Licences will run for a period of 12 years from the commencement date of the new licensed services. Copies of the Licences are available from the ITC Viewer Relations Unit, 33 Foley Street, London W1W 7TL.
The ITC looks forward to the commencement of the new licensed services to be announced by the BBC and Crown Castle.
Notes to Editors
- The ITC advertised the licences to operate three digital terrestrial multiplexes B, C and D, on 1 May 2002 in an accelerated application process.
- This grant follows the success of the BBC and Crown Castle in the re-tendering process which lead to them being awarded the Licences subject to satisfactory compliance with their conditions set out in ITC Press Release of July 4 (53/02).
